Plans To Make Traditional Rulers & Presidents-General Independent Of Super Rich In Their Communities.
The newly sworn-in Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs,Barr. Vin Ifeanyichukwu Ezeaka has said that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo will create fourth tier of government in the 179 communities in the State.
Barr. Ezeaka disclosed this on Tuesday,2nd June,2026 during an exclusive media chat with some journalists, who went to officially congratulate him on his new appointment as Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs.
According to him, the Anambra State Government is coming up with the law that will govern the communities as the fourth tier of government in Anambra State.
He maintained that Gov Soludo is very clear as what he wants, adding that by the time the law comes out, the communities will become the fourth tier of government in Anambra State.
He further disclosed that the fourth tier of government in the State will see to the rural development of the communities, and also settle the needs of the communities, and not a voluntary organizations, where the chairmen are removed from office at will and they go to court.
“Governor is very deliberate on what he wants in the communities, and by the time we define those things very well,we will hold elections in those communities. We will put a government that will be responsive and responsible to the government in the State”, Barr Ezeaka stated.
In related development,Barr Ezeaka has condemned the attitudes of some super rich in their communities concerning the way they are controlling their traditional rulers and presidents-general.
He added that some traditional rulers and presidents-general are on the payrolls of some of the super rich in their communities, thereby making them not to live up to their expectations.
He noted that the clash of the god-fathers in their communities,is the cause of the problems of the traditional rulers and presidents-general, and also the instabilities in some communities.
However,he stated that the actual leaders of the communities are the super rich and that is the problems being experienced in some communities, maintaining that whereas there are Igwes and PGs in the communities, the super rich are the actual leaders in the communities and that is the problem.
According to him,the Government of Anambra State is going to make the Igwes and PGs independent of the super rich in their communities,by removing them from the payrolls of the super rich. He added that they will also do their best to draw a dividing line between the roles of the traditional rulers and presidents-general, and make them independent of their sponsors.
“There are still god-fathers in our various communities that are controlling the Igwes and PGs, and the clash of them brings instabilities in some communities. That is the truth of the matter but nobody wants to tell that truth accept somebody like me”.
On the issue of truancy and lateness of workers at the local government areas, Barr Ezeaka stated that his ministry will support the Local Government Service Commission to deepen the process that was put in place when he was the Chairman of the commission.
He therefore encouraged the Mayors to take charge of their local government areas by knowing the number of workers that come to work each day either through biometric or attendance registers to avoid workers manipulating the system.
